Finding an Elective


  • Contact your program director about established partnerships the departments have with international partners and institutions.
  • Check out the department and university website for recent news and opportunities other residents found.
  • Speak to faculty who have previously worked on Global Surgery education or research projects.
  • Look up organizations who faculty or other clinicians have gone through, review the MacGlObAS resources page for some examples.

The McMaster Global Health Innovation Forum “MacGlobal” draws on the expertise and resources of one of the Canada’s leading educational and research institutions to provide a forum for global health scholarship, innovation, and collaboration among medical residents across specialties. The aim is to provide interested post- graduate medical trainees (residents) with knowledge and skills relevant to the practice of global health.
